Community Leaders Support the Shelton Bady FoundationHOUSTON, TX. Shelton Bady is a strong community leader who comes from a family of 11 and recognizes what it takes to make a strong family. When families aren’t striving and needs aren’t being met, he takes it personally. In October 2004, the Shelton Bady Foundation was founded for the purpose of assisting those in our community who are in need. Working to make a difference, Shelton Bady serves on several boards such as Greater Greenspoint Redevelopment Authority, Aldine-Greenspoint YMCA, and the One Star Commission for the State of Texas. He is also involved in various community associations as the Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Assistance Ministries, and the Aldine Independent School District Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Shelton felt it to be essential for the business leaders collaborate in an effort to assess the many needs evident in Greenspoint. With this in mind, the Shelton Bady Foundation hosted a Community Business Luncheon, sponsored by AmeriGroup and Dr. Fuller’s BBQ. This luncheon was free to the approximate 50 business leaders who attended Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the Harvest Community Center, 17770 Imperial Valley Drive, Houston. Some of the companies or organizations represented at the luncheon were Hotel Sofitel, King Fuels, Greater Greenspoint District, Chase Bank, Evans Eye Care, Fitness Connection, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Mission Greenspoint, and many more. The mission of the Foundation was expressed by Shelton Bady, and Bennie Lambert of North Harris College shared an uplifting talk regarding the significance of family. Further, an open dialogue was established to address various community concerns, and emphasis was placed on organizations that are currently offering programs to address some of the concerns. At the end of the afternoon, the Foundation’s upcoming Golf Tournament on August 9th at Cypresswood Golf Course was announced. This is a fundraising event with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Aldine Y.O.U.T.H., Harvest Preparatory Academy, and Aldine-Greenspoint YMCA in support of youth health and education programs.
